Urban Sketching: Riverfront Park:

Sketch Out at Riverfront Park

Join Megan Perkins at the Riverfront Park to learn about urban sketching and how to capture the story of a place by drawing and painting on location. Finish the class with a spread in your sketchbook that will remind you of the time you spent in this beautiful park every time you look at it. All skill levels welcome! Students have the option of displaying their work alongside Megan’s at the Pavilion Art Space in Riverfront Park. If that is desired, please bring loose leaf paper or a sketchbook where the pages can be torn out for your sketching surface.

Students will provide their own supplies.

Absolute minimum: a sketchbook or loose leaf paper with a rigid backing to provide support (clips recommended to secure the paper to the board), pencil, eraser. Other drawing tools as desired: pens, colored pencils, markers, watercolor pencils, water soluble pens, etc.

A watercolor set with paints, brushes, cup for water, and paper towels is suggested if the student wants to paint. Megan will be doing a sketching demo that includes watercolor. If student desires to use watercolor, paper must be at least 90 lb watercolor or mixed media paper or sketchbook. Princeton Snap brushes are recommended as good, affordable starter brushes. Sizes 6 and 12 are recommended.
